To give yourself a subcutaneous injection, you can follow these steps:

  1. Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab and let it dry.
  2. Fill the syringe with the prescribed medication.
  3. Pinch a fold of skin at the chosen injection site (such as the abdomen or thigh).
  4. Hold the syringe like a pencil and insert the needle straight into the skin.
  5. Push the plunger slowly to inject the medication.
  6. Withdraw the needle and release the skin fold.
  7. Apply light pressure to the injection site with a sterile gauze pad or cotton ball to prevent bleeding.

It is important to always follow your healthcare provider’s instructions and to use a new, sterile needle for each injection.
